Our Story
Our Story
Just as we will have our monthly speakers share their stories, it is important for us to share our story and how this vision of a men’s ministry came to fruition. Our Board of Directors has a tremendous heart for Christ and an even bigger heart for men’s ministry. After a February 2019 men’s conference at a local church in Enterprise, AL, a group of men convened with the idea of starting a ministry that would not be denominationally driven. After meeting several times in the Fall of 2019, it was agreed that we should share our vision with guys from other churches to get their feedback. After three monthly breakfasts’ at local churches, our vision became more clear and more defined. We established a Board of Directors (including two local pastors), incorporated as a not-for-profit organization, and set up to fine-tune how we would reach the men of the Wiregrass. We are thankful to the Iron Works Men’s Ministry (especially Mark Perry) for their guidance and support as we finalized the formation of this ministry.
It was apparent to the Board that in order for this ministry to reach the men of the Wiregrass, share and spread the gospel, we had to be very intentional in a few areas. Our events are designed to meet men where they are in their walk with Christ, knowing that we are called to fulfill the Great Commission. It is not enough for us to have a speaker share his story without purposely providing opportunities for men to be discipled in a way that allows them to grow in their faith. As such, our events will always conclude with an opportunity for men to speak with local pastors about the gospel. Furthermore, central to our mission is the understanding that guys have to gather on a regular basis in small groups in order to be discipled in an effective manner. Therefore, at the end of every Armor Up meeting, leaders/ representatives from small groups all around the Wiregrass will be ready and willing to welcome men to their groups.
